Welcome Flat Hot Springs

Rob crossing a swing bridge on the 17km tramp to the Welcome Flat Hut via the Copland Track. The track passes along the confluence of the Copland and Karangarua Rivers. Little did we know what a luxury a bridge like this was until later in our travels.

I forgot to bring the duck back for my pack, so we had to stop at the local dairy to buy this lovely poncho. It went perfectly with my yellow rainsuit and my pack and clothes stayed dry even with the steady rain.

We saw this about 4 hours into the tramp.

Here I am following the instructions written on the sign, but sadly no assistance is coming my way.

The best part of this tramp, the soak in the hot springs at the end. When we arrived, the sun had just set, the skies cleared and we were able to enjoy the empty pools without rain. This picture is taken the following morning.
